Prayer to the Mother of God

Virgin Mother of God, rejoice, Mary full of grace; the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, for thou hast borne the Saviour of our souls.

It is truly right to call you blessed O Theotokos. You are ever blessed and all blameless and he Mother of our God. Higher in honour than the Cherubim and more glorious beyond compare than the Seraphim. You gave birth to God the Word in virginity, you are truly Mother of God, you do we exalt.

Under your tender compassion we run, O Mother of God. Reject not our prayer in our trouble but deliver us from harm, only pure, only blessed one.

Most glorious ever Virgin Mother of Christ our God, present our prayer to your Son and our God and pray that through you He may save our souls.

O good Mother of the good King, most pure and blessed Virgin Mary, pour out the mercy of your Son and our God on my passionate soul and guide me in good works by your prayers, that I may pass the rest of my life without defilement and find paradise through you, O Virgin Mother of God who alone are pure and blessed.

O never failing protectress of Christians, and their ever present intercessor before the Creator, despise not the petitions of us sinners, but in your goodness extend your help to us, who call upon you with confidence. Hasten, O Mother of God, to intercede for us, for you have always protected those who honour you.

Triumphant Leader, to you belongs our prize of victory. And since you saved us from adversity, we offer you our thanks. We are your people, O Mother of God. So as you have that invincible power, continue to deliver us from danger that we may cry out to you: Hail, O Virgin and Bride ever pure.

At the magnificence of your virginity and your exceedingly splendorous purity, Gabriel stood amazed and cried out to you, O Theotokos: what praise may I offer you that is worthy of your beauty? By what name shall I call upon you? I am lost and bewildered. But I shall greet you as I was commanded: Hail, O full of grace.
