Development of the Pastoral Plan
On 20 to 22 November 2009 the Melkite Catholic Eparchy of Australia and New Zealand held its 2nd Convention. The three day event was held at St Joseph’s Parish in Fairfield, Victoria and was attended by faithful from across the Eparchy.
The theme of the Convention was ‘Together we build our Church’ and the mix of ages and locations certainly proved this to be true.
Prior to the Convention, surveys were conducted through all parishes, online and with particular groups eg youth. This information helped for the basis of the matters discussed at the convention.
At the Conclusion of the Convention, His Grace, Issam John Darwish, requested that a committee come together to develop an Eparchy Pastoral Plan from the fruits that had come from our time together in Fairfield.
The Committee spent six months looking at all the feedback and suggestions, categorising them and breaking them down into this Pastoral Plan which is designed to guide the Eparchy from 2010-2012.
