Archimandrite Nicholas Caba
ARCHIMANDRITE NICHOLAS CABA
1890 - 9/11/1933
Born in Homs, Syria, to an affluent family, Archimandrite (Monseigneur) Caba was educated at the school of the Jesuit Fathers in Homs. At 15-years-old he joined the Basilian Chouerite Order of St John the Baptist at Khonshara, Lebanon and studied literature, philosophy, and theology. After his ordination, Monseigneur Caba served in parishes throughout Syria and Lebanon.

In Australia, Monseigneur Mansour was ageing and required the assistance of another priest. After the departure of two priests in 1925―Monseigneur Archipos Zarzour and Fr Nicholas Modowar―Monseigneur Caba was selected and arrived in Sydney in 1925. Monseigneur Caba served at St Michael’s for 10 years, taking over as Parish Priest after the death of Monseigneur Mansour.

Monseigneur Caba died aged 43 and is buried in Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney.
