ST COSMAS THE MELODIST
Eparchial School of Byzantine Music
St Cosmas the Melodist Eparchial School of Byzantine Music and the Eparchial Choir of St Cosmas the Melodist (Eparchial Choir) were established by Reverend Father Romanos Al Osta in 2023. Father Romanos serves as the Head Chanter (Protopsaltis) of the Holy See of Antioch and is a Professor of Byzantine music.

Byzantine music is a magnificent art form with a history spanning over 2000 years. It holds cultural and theological significance and is closely connected to the spiritual practices and religious traditions of our Byzantine Rite.
The mission of the Eparchial School of Byzantine Music is to:​

educate members of the Eparchial Choir with knowledge of Byzantine musical notation, as used in liturgical chants and hymns of our Byzantine Rite.
prepare the Eparchial Choir to participate in official events hosted by His Grace, The Most Reverend Robert Rabbat and other community gatherings.
train our Melkite men, women and children in Byzantine and ecclesiastical chanting and psalmody, supporting the formation of cantors for our Parishes.
Father Romanos invites our Melkite men, women and children, to join the Eparchial Choir and encourages those interested to enrol in the Eparchial School of Byzantine Music to gain knowledge of Byzantine notation, as well as musical and liturgical education. This is what you need to know―
